“…and when the woman saw…she took…she gave…they ate…then the eyes of them both were opened and they knew…” Genesis 3:6-7
Have you ever regrettably looked back on a wrong decision you made and thought, “If I had only known?” Adam and Eve surely felt this way as they were introduced to the sudden new reality of life where the mind, will and emotions exalt themselves in the absence of a finely tuned spirit. They had no way of truly knowing, in the spiritually selfless state they existed in, how a self-conscious perception would affect them.
We also struggle to realize what it fully means to live life in the spirit as Romans chapter 8 describes, because of the affect that our heightened awareness of natural realities (this physical world) has had on us. God is a spirit according to John 4:24 and He is constantly seeking those who are willing to worship Him in a truly spiritual way. That means not worshipping God the way ‘we think’ it should be done or expecting others to follow our religious traditions and procedures. Our versions of Christianity are often developed by several generations of ministerial leaders who have lost the original spiritual perception that created a passionate magnetism to the God that their predecessors once enjoyed. When we aimlessly follow such blind leadership we end up equally blind and as spiritually destitute as Adam and Eve after they were driven out of the Garden.
Because of our fallen human nature, we must be reminded periodically of our need for the presence of God and the dangers of any information developed wholly outside that environment. Wrong perceptions lead to wrong realities for innocent people. It is better for us as believers to remain innocently ignorant, if necessary, than to fall into the devil’s strategy of thinking we know (or need to know) more than we do! Let the scholars and philosophers (those who can’t control their need to know) do the rigidly logical reasoning, arguing and debating so you can linger and abide in the presence of God!
When we let God govern our thinking we remain cloaked and covered with the authority He has given us, safely headed toward the destiny He has called us to! Keep your “why’s” and “how’s” sheltered in God. He knows how to answer all your questions…even about end time concerns…as you continue to seek HIM first.
